Episode #20: Evangelos Simoudis on Corporate VCs, Incubators and Startup Acquisitions

Evangelos Simoudis is currently working with Steve Blank on a model for corporate innovation.

Evangelos has been working in Silicon Valley as a technologist, entrepreneur, corporate executive, and VC. Today he advises global corporations on startup-driven innovation and information technology and invests in early stage startups working on big data applications. He is a recognized thought leader on corporate innovation, big data, cloud computing, and digital marketing platforms, a writer and speaker on these topics. In 2014, Evangelos was named a Power Player in Digital Media, and in 2012 as a top investor in online advertising.

Evangelos is a foudner and MD at Synapse Partners, an organisation connecting Fortune 500 companies with technologies, practices and startups that are shaping our future. His investing career started 15 years ago at Apax Partners where he as a GP, continued at Trident Capital as a senior managing director, and more recently at Corporate Innovation Ventures where he is a founder and managing director. His current directorships include Amobee/Singtel, and Kite. Prior directorships include Brightroll (acquired by Yahoo!), Bristol Technology (acquired by Hewlett-Packard), Composite Software (acquired by Cisco), Confluent Software (acquired by Oracle Corporation), Exelate (acquired by Nielsen) and Princeton Softech (acquired by IBM). Prior to his investing and advisory career, Evangelos had a 20-year career in high-technology executive roles, including two startup CEO positions.

In this episode we dive into some of Evangelos' thought leadership on topics pertaining to:

- corporate VC

- corporate accelerators and incubators

- acquisition of startups

We experienced some minor technical issues during this interview, however despite this I cannot recommend listening to this highly enough if you have an interest in corporate innovation, which, if you're reading this, is probably quite likely!
